PRAYER: A Daily Regimen of Catholic Prayers

In the name of the Father, YHWH,
and of the Son, Jesus Christ
and of the Holy Spirit, we pray.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus
St. Michael the Archangel
Guardian Angel
The Angelus by Jean-Françoise Millet
Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Gentle Reader,

I invite you to join your prayers with mine which I join with those said in the Masses throughout the world. Here are the Mass readings for today: http://www.catholiccontent.com/150/mass/

Morning Offering

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

I offer you my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day
in union with the holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world.

I offer them for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart:
the salvation of souls, reparation for sin, the reunion of all Christians.

I offer them for the intentions of our bishops and of all apostles of prayer —
in particular, for those recommended by our Holy Father this month.

Mary, Queen of Holy Angels - Pray for us!

St. Gertrude's Prayer:

St. Gertrude the Great is invoked for souls in purgatory and for living sinners. Our Lord told St. Gertrude that the following prayer would release 1000 souls from purgatory each time it is said. The prayer was extended to include living sinners as well.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the most precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, those in my own home, and within my family. Amen.

Novena of Confidence to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

O Lord Jesus Christ, to Your Most Sacred Heart, I confide this intention.
(Here mention your request)
Only look upon me, then do what Your Heart inspires...
Let Your Sacred Heart decide...
I count on it... I trust in it... I throw myself on It's Mercy...

Lord Jesus You will not fail me.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in Thee.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I believe in Thy love for me.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom Come.
O Sacred Heart of Jesus I have asked for many favors,
but I earnestly implore this one.
Take it, place it in Thy Sacred Heart.
When the Eternal Father sees it covered with Thy Precious Blood,
He will not refuse it.
It will be no longer my prayer but Thine.

O Jesus, O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in Thee.
Let me never be confounded.

Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle, be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, cast into Hell, Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Sib Tuum Praesidium

This was first found in a Greek papyrus, c 300, and is the oldest known prayer to the
Virgin.

We turn to you for protection, Holy Mother of God. Listen to our prayers and help us in our needs. Save us from every danger, glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

The Memorare of St. Bernard of Clairvaux

The Memorare (Remember) is a long-beloved personal prayer of petition for Mary's intercession. The Catechism observes that "Mary is the perfect Orans (prayer), a figure of the Church. When we pray to her, we are adhering with her to the plan of the Father, who sends His Son to save all men. Like the beloved disciple, we welcome Jesus' mother into our homes, for she has become the mother of all the living. We can pray with and to her. The prayer of the Church is sustained by the prayer of Mary and united with it in hope" [CCC 2679].

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection,
implored your help or sought your intercession, was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother.
To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions,
but, in your mercy, hear and answer me.

Amen.

Eucharistic Prayer of Our Lady of Akita

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, truly present in the Holy Eucharist,
I consecrate my body and my soul to be entirely one with Your Heart
being sacrificed at every instant on all the altars of the world and
giving praise to the Father, pleading for the coming of His Kingdom.

Please receive this humble offering of myself.
Use me as You will for the glory of the Father and the salvation of souls.

Most holy Mother of God, never let me be separated from Your Divine Son.
Please defend and protect me as Your Special Child.

Amen.

The Angelus

Traditionally said morning, noon, and evening, except in Easter season, when the Regina Caeli is prayed instead.

V: The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary
R: And she conceived by the Holy Ghost.

V: Hail Mary, full of grace: The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
R: Holy Mary, Mother of God: Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

V: Behold, the handmaid of the Lord.
R: Be it done unto me according to thy word.

V: Hail Mary …
R: Holy Mary …

V: And the Word was made flesh
R: And dwelt among us.

V: Hail Mary …
R: Holy Mary …

V: Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,
R: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

V: Let us pray.

All: Pour forth, we beseech thee, O Lord, thy grace unto our hearts, that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ, thy Son, was made known by the message of an Angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ, our Lord, Amen.

The Most Holy Rosary: A Visual Rosary

The Rosary is centered on the person of Christ manifested in His mysteries. In countless hymns and antiphons expressing this prayer, two movements usually alternate with one another: the first 'magnifies' the Lord for the 'great things' He did for His lowly servant and through her for all human beings.

Divine Mercy Chaplet - EWTN: Audio-Video

On the Large Bead before Each Decade:
Eternal Father,
I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son,
Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

On the 10 Small Beads of Each Decade:
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Concluding Doxology: (after five decades)
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (Three times)

Guardian Angel Prayer

Angel of God,
my guardian dear to whom God’s love commits me here;
ever this day be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide.

I pray in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Baptismal Vows

V. Do you reject Satan?
R. I do.

V. And all his works?
R. I do.

V. And all his empty promises?
R. I do.

V. Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth?
R. I do.
V. Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died, and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father?
R. I do.
V. Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting?
R. I do.
V. God, the all-powerful Father of our Lord Jesus Christ has given us a new birth by water and the Holy Spirit, and forgiven all our sins. May he also keep us faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ for ever and ever.
R. Amen.

Benedictine Daily Prayer: Concluding Prayer · 5/4/2007
A prayer to end the liturgical day:

Entering the night watch we engage
the darkness and silence once more.
The daily cycle is almost complete!
Trust is the virtue for this Hour.
We surrender ourselves to God’s protection.
We entrust our hearts to the blessing of rest
and to the night—an ocean yielding many a surprise.

May the Lord grant us a peaceful night
and a perfect end.
